The Ditto utility

With the Ditto utility it is possible to copy data from:

  • One field in a record into the same field in another record.
  • A tab in a record into the same tab in another record.
  • All fields in a record into another record.

Tip: The Ditto utility can be used when adding a new record or editing an existing record.

When a record is selected as a Ditto record, it is listed in the Ditto box and can be re-selected at any time.

To display the Ditto box:

  1. Select Edit>Ditto>Select Ditto Record from the Menu bar:

Clearly, there can be more than one record listed as Ditto records in EMu, although there is only ever one current (active) Ditto recordClosedThe selected record from which data is copied into a new or existing record using the Ditto utility..

By default, Ditto records are assigned a temporary status and will be replaced when the number of Ditto records that can be saved as Ditto records has been exceeded (see Recent List Length Registry entry for details). It is possible to add a record to the Ditto box permanently however.

Before the Ditto utility can be used to copy data from one record to another, it is necessary to select which record is to be the Ditto record (the record which will be copied):
